Chaucer: Canterbury tales (1385)

Sori, mutta oli ihan pakko. Tämän käännös pitäisi olla huomenissa valmiina. Jotain olen saanut aikaan, mutta kyllä kieli on jonkun verran muuttunut vuosisatojen aikana. Postaan tämän ihan vaan kuriositeettina. Vaikkette sanoista tajuaisikaan paljon mitään niin maistelkaa rytmiä: neljä tai viisi biittiä per rivi.

Tel of somno siche a tale or two
That al the folk shal laughen in this place
Nowe ellez frerr I will be shrew thi face
Quod this Somno and I be shrew me
But if I tell tales two or thre
Of ffreres til I come to Sydyngborne
That I shall make thin hert to morne

Juu, sanoista en tajunnut yhtään mitään. Mutta muuten en tiedä pitäisikö kehua vai haukkua. :) Omaperäisyyttä kyllä on vaikka muille jakaa, ja tuota rytmikkyyttäkin löytyy, mutta eiköhän tuostakin pitäisi selvää saada. Mutta kyllä, hienolta vaikuttaa. Tuosta oudosta kielestä kun tulee mieleen joku skottimurre, ja se sopii suuhun kuin suuhun, iie?

Skottimurre ei ole lainkaan huono valinta, vaikka kieli onkin oman aikansa "nykyenglantia" Ääntäminen nähkääs oli tuolloin lähellä sitä mitä se on nyt Englannin pohjoisosissa ja Skotlannissa. Enkä suostu ottamaan rispektejä, kyllä kaikki kiitos Chaucerille kuuluu. :)

Pahoittelen että tuossa ensimmäisessä postissa ei ollut lainkaan välimerkkejä, mutta sitä kirjoittaessani minulla oli vain välimerkitön versio hallussani. Luulen että niistä olisi tulkinnassa ollut aika paljon hyötyä. Sain myöhemmin käsiini toisen version samasta tekstistä joka oli hiukan selvempi, mutta enpä sitten jaksanut käydä editoimaan..

Laitan nyt työni tuloksen tähän, eli ylläolevan käännös nykyenglantiin. Ei ole ihan täydellinen ja joitakin kohtia en ihan täysin ymmärtänyt, mutta varmasti melko lähelle totuutta tällä päästään. Riimit tietysti hiukan kärsivät kun hain erilaisia lauserakenteita, mutta minähän olenkin vasta amatööri. Hassua vaan niille joita kiinnostaa:

Todella haasteellista lukea mutta hauskaa oli ja tarinakin ihan hyvä...=) Mukavaa kun on välillä jotain erillaistakin täällä osastolla :rispekti:it sulle todella piristävästä runosta. Ja tuo murre on ihan hyvän kuullosta mielessä, hih minä kun en ääneen lue runoja vaikka se hyvää äänihuulille tekiskin. :D
